Hematology Connect’s mission is to provide expert benign hematology care and educate the community about common blood disorders such as iron deficiency anemia to help people maintain healthy lives.
VISION
Hematology Connect’s vision is to become a world leader in benign hematology telemedicine. Telemedicine is the practice of caring for patients remotely by computer, tablet or mobile device. HISTORY
Hematology Connect was founded in July 2021 and created by recognizing a shortage in expert benign hematologists outside of major hospitals and academic centers. In fact, in 2010 a Recruitment and Retention Working Group was created by the American Society of Hematology to solve the problem of the hematologist shortage, but it remains an issue to date. Adult benign hematology was described as an endangered field that merits protection in a recent article in OncLive (Green 2021). Hematology Connect brings a solution to this problem by increasing access to care. Patients can see a blood specialist by scheduling an appointment to be seen virtually.
